The Sun has been in Coniston for about 400 years, long before the village in fact. Back then the inn catered for the thirsty workers on the trade route to the west coast ports. Today, it provides a warm welcome to people exploring the some of the finest and peaceful parts of the English Lake District.
They say location is everything. Being in a village with it’s own lake is a good start! Coniston is also the gateway to some of the most beautiful and less touristy parts of the Lake District. So if you are walking, climbing, canoeing, sailing, mountain biking, pot holing or simply just touring the countryside, there is no better place to base yourself.
The Sun itself, has an enviable location - just under the mountains with an elevated view of the village of Coniston.
